Meet the Teacher
Ms. Wolfington started the very first hotel internship in 1989. She began the first program at the Hyatt Regency on Town Lake. She then expanded the program to the Omni Austin Downtown, the Driskill, and Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa and the W Hotel. She has also worked with AT&T conference center, Four Seasons, Texas Monthly, SXSW, Ronald McDonald House and Wild Flower Center. Ms. Wolfington actually started her career in the hospitality business as a catering manager at the Sheraton Crest Hotel on Town Lake.
She truly believes in the value of this program for a wide variety of students. A hotel is like a big city all rolled into one building. It is a very unique opportunity that offers students a chance to sample a career before they go out into the real world of work. Many students continue in the hospitality field either through work or pursuing a college degree. She has students who have attended Johnson and Wales, University of Houston, Texas Tech, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Many students even have great hotel jobs while working their way through college.
The type of students who tend to succeed in this industry have strong people skills, good attendance, and a desire to be successful in life. If you have any question about this class, be sure to contact Ms. Wolfington by e-mailing her at [email protected].
